Over 7,000 ACCA students pursuing career in accountancy, finance: Seminar told

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has a pool of over 7,000 students both male and female in and around Karachi, who are perusing a career in accountancy and finance by way of their ACCA qualification.
This was revealed in a seminar on "ACCA Pakistan talent management seminar 2007," organised by ACCA, Pakistan, here on Wednesday. The main objective of the seminar was to exchange ideas between students of ACCA and prospective employers, said the speakers. They said that such a large number of male and female members required mentorship and various opportunities for professional development available for them in future.
Introducing the ACCA programme, Business Development Manager of ACCA, Pakistan, Rameezuddin Khan, said that the programme had been expanded to three areas from January 2007 that included examination, ethics and practical working while earlier ethics was not included in the programme. Top management representatives from the accounting profession and industry made presentation on the occasion.
Among the firms, which made presentations were KPMG Taseer Hadi & Co Chartered Accountants, Ford Rhodes Sidat Hyder & Co, Anjum Asim Shahid Rahman Chartered Accountants Special Advisory Services, Avais Hyder Liaquat Nauman Chartered Accountants and Financial Control Division of Habib Bank Limited.
These firms also set up their desks to disseminate information to students about their structures and the various opportunities for training available within their various departments. The ACCA, Pakistan, supports around 1,400 affiliates and over 20,000 students all over the country.
