Hold talks with Pakistan or lose Kashmir; Abdullah urges India
Former Chief Minister of Occupied Kashmir, Dr Farooq Abdullah has given a wakeup call to Indian authorities and urged them to hold talks with Pakistan or lose Kashmir.
Farooq Abdullah, who is contesting the state by-elections from Srinagar, while talking to India Today said that the violence and loss of lives during the by-polls in the state "are a tragedy and a failure of the government of the day.â€
He said the government could not provide security to the people, and further, it is the present dispensation which the people reject.
The former chief minister said the deaths showed "how much the situation has deteriorated".
He said people had died in Budgam district and many were injured by pellet guns "it shows the situation has worsened. We hope that the polling will take place as we go on and the people will be able to express their opinion".
It is pertinent to mention here that, at least eight youth including two teenage boys were shot dead and around a hundred were injured after Indian forces opened fire on demonstrators protesting against the holding of sham Indian parliamentary elections in Bagdam, Srinagar and Gandarbal districts on April 09.
The poll drama totally flopped with turnout remaining below six as official figures stated.
