Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi has said that Sharif brothers return would bring no change in political landscape of Pakistan rather their act would annoy Saudi leadership and breech their trust.
"Their return will not create any problem to Pakistan Muslim League (PML) as they have done nothing significant in exile", he asserted, while talking to reporters after inaugurating Rescue 1122 at Pirwadhai Morre.
Muhammad Basharat Raja, Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs also addressed the gathering. The Director General of Rescue 1122 Dr Rizwan Naseer briefed the chief minister about the service. Ellahi said that dialogue with Pakistan People's Party (PPP) was in progress and nothing had been finalised so far. PML on the basis of its performance, development and economic stability would clean sweep the upcoming elections, he claimed.
To a question, he firmly said that re-election of President Musharraf in uniform for another term by present assemblies was 'certain', as country needed a strong and powerful President to face the national and international challenges and continue the present economic policies.
President Musharraf would himself decide about the uniform issue at an appropriate time, he said. Earlier, addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Minister said that Rescue 1122 has been launched to provide prompt relief to people in the time of emergency. Rapid and prompt rescue and relief operation in case of emergency would help save precious human lives and property, he noted. He said that an Emergency Training Academy was set up in Lahore where all the rescue workers were given basic training to cope with any emergency and disaster-like situation.
"Rescue-1122 has maintained average response time of seven minutes to reach any point at Lahore and I hope that the service maintain the same standard in Rawalpindi," he added.
He maintained that the ambulances and other vehicles provided to Rescue-1122 were equipped with modern facilities and latest tracking system linked with satellite, which would guide the vehicle to reach within minimum time at any spot. He hoped that Rescue-1122 would deliver its services free of cost.
The chief minister said that Rs 400 million would be spent on construction of six Rescue-1122 Centres in different areas of Rawalpindi, where 14 ambulances and five fire engines have been provided with 250 well-trained rescuers. "Federal Minister for Railways has pledged to provide Railway's land inside the city to build additional Rescue-1122 Center", the chief minister said.
Ellahi said that the service of Rescue 1122 would be extended to entire Punjab and soon it operation would be launched at Multan, Gujranwala, Murree, Bahawalpur, Sargodha and Faisalabad.
He said that the Punjab government has upgraded 85 percent Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Rural Health Centres (RHCs) under Health Sector Reforms prigramme. Under Education Sector Reforms government attached all primary schools with these BHUs and RHCs where every child would be provided medical care.
He said that Punjab Government had provided Rs 160 million for development projects in Rawalpindi Cantonment area. The construction work of one each college for boys and girls has been started in Rawalpindi Cantonment, he informed. The Punjab chief minister announced that provincial Law Minister Raja Muhammad Basharat would contest for a National Assembly seat of Rawalpindi Cantt (NA-54) on PML ticket in next general elections.
