Federal government has decided to build permanent placement for the security forces in North and South Waziristan, which comprising accommodation, offices and other related infrastructure.
According to the Interior Ministry sources the project will cost Rs 1.4 billion to construct this infrastructure in seven locations of North and South Waziristan including at Warsak, Parachinar, Razmak and Samar Bagh. The official said that the funds have been approved recently by the Planning Commission which will be completed in two years.
Giving the rationale of the project, the official said that the FC-NWFP is entrusted with the security task of the Northwest border of Pakistan that necessitates the permanent placement of more troops of FC-NWFP in these areas.
The project aims at providing relief to Constabulary of the Armed Forces deployed in NWFP border areas and to facilitate them for effective performance of their duties by providing them proper residential and office accommodation to Kurram Militia, Swat Scouts and newly raised Thall Scouts, Shawal Rifles and Dir Scouts.
He said that under the project, wing offices, commander house, quarter guards, officer's mess, and troop's barracks, dining hall, ammunition stores, roads and tube wells would be constructed.
The project also has the objective to effectively deal with the present situation across Pak-Afghan boarder. The sources said that strength of the security forces would also be increased and deployed permanently in these areas because they are responsible to prevent any unwanted movement across the boarders.
Giving the break up of the project, the sources said that Rs 48.4 million would be spent for the construction of barracks and ranks quarters at Parachinar. For the construction of single men barracks and other ranks for the Swat Scouts at Warsak Rs 44.165 million are set aside.
In the same area but at other location, the barracks and relevant complex will cost Rs 44.165 million. For the construction of accommodation for additional wing at Thall, Warsak, Razmak and Samar Bagh Rs 1.26 billion will be spend.
