The average price of Bangladesh teas rose 1.71 percent to 80.71 taka ($1.17) per kg at the weekly auction on Tuesday, brokers said. "About 1.23 million kg were sold at an average price of 80.71 taka per kg, up 1.71 taka from the previous sale. The withdrawal percentage was 20.22," said an official of the National Brokers Limited, the country's largest tea broker.
Buyers from Pakistan and Bangladesh participated in the weekly auction. "There was good demand for better teas, but most poor quality leaves failed to attract buyers," an auctioneer said. Different grades were sold between 55 taka and 155 taka per kg. The next weekly auction will be held on September 25 with an expected offering of 1.5 million kg. Following are the results of the latest auction in Bangladesh taka per kg.
