PTCL is planning a Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS) for employees, which would be absolutely 'non-binding', and nobody would be forced to leave the company.
A PTCL spokesman, while dispelling the impression given by some media reports regarding staff cut at PTCL, said that from the very beginning, Etisalat had made a solemn commitment with the employees that its all-out effort would be to bring everybody on board.
Etisalat considers PTCL staff as a precious asset and, therefore, would never lose it, the spokesman said on Wednesday. He pointed out that VSS was still under review, and any decision would be made in consultation with the Government of Pakistan.
Referring to reports appearing in a section of the media regarding any possible cut in staff, the spokesman categorically said that the Company had, time and again, clarified that no such plan was under consideration at any level. Therefore, such stories were generating unnecessary confusion among employees. He said that PTCL management was taking a number of steps to transform PTCL into a leading regional telecommunications operator for fixed line and data services.
The VSS is one of those steps where it recognises the years of hard work and commitment shown by its employees and rewarding them for that, he said. He said that Etisalat has world-wide network and is planning to utilise PTCL human resource for its overseas operations.
