Sindh Local Government Minister Muhammad Hussain has said that grant of lease to Katchi Abadies of Clifton was not a favour to their inhabitants, their basic rights were denied by previous successive governments.
Talking to a six-member delegation of Tekri Colony, Bath Island, led by UC Nazim, Muhammad Khalid, here Wednesday, Mohammed Hussain described grant of lease as yet another proof of commitment and sincerity of Haq Parast leadership towards the masses. He said all the notified Katchi Abadies, not only in Karachi but all over Sindh, are being granted lease to develop a sense of security among their inhabitants.
There is no truth in the perception being propagated by some elements that localities of some particular linguistic groups are being deliberately deprived of thier ownership rights, he added. During the last eight months, Minister informed, about 60 Katchi Abadies in Sindh were given lease while lease work in respect of 70 other abadis was in progress.
He directed Director Sindh Katchi Abadies Authority (SKAA) Dr Asghar Shaikh to immediately establish a camp office in Tekri Colony and expedite the survey and issuance of chalIan forms to area occupants. He said that traditional political and religious parties always don't keep their promises to their voters.
They make hollow claims only for the sake of securing seats and remaining in power, which led to increasing problems of the downtrodden. He pointed out that MQM is serving even those city areas, which were not considered its vote bank. But it was the directive of Quaid-e-Tehreek to serve the masses without any discrimination.
