At least 65 senior doctors of different cadres working in the public-sector hospitals in various parts of Azad Jammu Kashmir have been promoted following their outstanding performance and seniority.
Disclosing this, AJK PMA General Secretary Dr Muhammad Ayub Qureshi told APP here on Wednesday that 65 doctors, including 50 medical officers, 19 dental surgeons and a senior medical specialist were elevated to grade 20 positions in recognition of their outstanding performance following the move by his newly-elected organisation, Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) of AJK chapter.
He said that like other parts of the country Pakistan Medical Association was actively engaged to secure and safeguard the due rights and interests of the medical fraternity across AJK without any discrimination. He said that the newly-elected PMA AJK President Dr Salim Abbasi led organisation promotion policy actively, he added, was laying stagnant since long.
Dr Qureshi felicitated the doctors on their promotion. He said that an extremely attractive package of incentives for the doctors was likely to be announced by the government of AJK in the near future. He said that PMA would leave no stone unturned to protect and obtain the due rights of the medical fraternity across Azad Jammu Kashmir.
Meanwhile, eminent Kashmiri Physician and specialists of family medicines Dr Khalid Yousaf said here on Wednesday that all the credit of elevation of 65 doctors, waiting for promotions since long, goes to the newly-elected PMA AJK President Dr Salim Abbasi and General Secretary Dr Ayub Qureshi.
He also thanked the government for acceding doctors' long standing demand for activating the promotion policy to give due rights to the medical fraternity all over AJK. He expressed the hope that the PMA would continue its work to protect and maintain the due rights of doctors working in private and public sectors across the liberated territory.
