Sindh Minister for Labour, Transport, Industry, Commerce and Cooperation, Muhammad Adil Siddiqui has informed business community that a cabinet meeting scheduled to be held in next few days would give approval for two projects including desalination of sea water and Site area power generation plant.
Addressing the opening ceremony of 14th Site Eid Bachat Bazaar on Thursday, organised by Site Association of Industry (SAI), he said that power generation projects would be implemented by Site Limited and provide power to site industries in collaboration with Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) on KESC tariff. The minister said that both the projects, seawater desalination plant and power generation would cost around Rs 40 crore.
He said water shortage and power problem would be resolved after commissioning of these two projects. He further said that PC one of the projects is already prepared and the projects need only cabinet approval. Adil Siddiqui said that the government is making efforts to provide conducive atmosphere in which investors, industrialists, business community and general public should live and work without tension.
Referring to law and order situation the minister termed it as normal in the province excepting few incidents. Efforts are under way to control these occasional incidents, he added.
He noted that investors are taking full advantage of improved law and order and are making investment in the province. Few years ago in Nooriabad industrial area no investor ventured to go and invest. Now investors are making investment in this industrial estate and number of industrial units has grown considerably.
Welcoming the guests, Chairman, SAI, Imran Shaukat complained that Site industrial area is getting only 5 MGD water per day whereas the requirement is around 32 to 40 MDG per day.
He said that SAI has been organising this Eid bachat bazaar since last 13 years to provide a facility to industrial workers, their families and general public to purchase goods at 10 to 25 percent discounted rates.
