MOL Pakistan an Oil and Gas Co BV has announced the names of successful students who have qualified for the award of scholarships to be provided by the company for continuing their higher education.
The scholarships have been awarded for various levels of education. 15 students of Intermediate level, 6 of Diploma in Associate Engineering, 3 BSc geology and 7 students of BSc engineering will get the scholarships.
In total 31 students belonging to the districts of (Kohat not in D&P Lease) Karak and Hangu (Operational area of MOL Pakistan D&P Lease) in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) were selected after a very detailed and fair process of tests and interviews.
Technical scholarships were divided amongst the students who had completed one year studies in Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) or BSc (Geology) and completion of two years of studies in an Engineering University.
A total of 15 scholarships were allocated for the Intermediate level students of four union councils of Tehsil Banda Daud Shah and Dallan Union council of District Hangu. 16 students were picked up amongst those who are studying either at the level of BSc Engineering, Diploma of Associate Engineering or Bachelor in Geology.
The scholarship payments are Rs 4,000 per month per student for intermediate level , Rs 10,000 per month per student for Engineering and Geology students and Rs 7,000 per month per student for DAE students starting from January, 2007 and will continue for two years. The amount is directly transferred to students' bank accounts already opened for the purpose.
Janos Feher, Managing Director, MOL Pakistan announcing the awards said that the company believes in bringing about socio-economic change in the lives of the communities of the company operational area and considers education as the most powerful instrument, to eradicate poverty and gear up socio-economic development and welfare of the society.
MOL Group a leading Central and Eastern European oil and gas company has been working in Pakistan, through its subsidiary MOL Pakistan Oil and Gas Co BV since April 1999. The concession lease was granted to MOL (TAL Block no.3370-3) in North West Frontier Province with the joint Venture of Oil and Gas Development Corporation Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), Government Holdings (Pvt) Limited (GHPL) and Pakistan Oil Fields Limited (POL) for exploration of oil and gas.
