Under new Textile Policy it is envisaged that three Garment Cities would be established at Lahore. Karachi & Faisalabad to develop state of the art facilities for Garment manufacturers.
The Textile Sector of Pakistan is contributing 65% to 68% of total exports Faisalabad Garment City Project is the textile infrastructures project slicing the vertical production Chain to create horizontal spaces for specialised production, this project will contribute uplift of Faisalabad, by job creation of 100 during implementation stage, 9000 workers after completion indirectly about 200000 persons will earn their living from the project, particularly women will be benefited as a large number of worker employed in the factories would be women. The total area of Project is about 40 Acres; Constructed area will be about 400000 Sft.
The Government will earn between $100 million to $300 million a year from exports, the unit operating in Garment city will contribute million of rupees in the Government treasury in shape of Sales Tax, Income Tax, custom duties and other levies, Rs 100.2 million was sanctioned by EDF Board for purchase of land & office establishment where as 31.138 million was released by P&D Division against total PC-1 Cost of 498.82 million during financial year 2007-2008.
The project will be completed with in 18 Months period subject to availability of funds, the Project will provide following benefit to the Textile industry. Being cluster of stitching Machine with complete ancillary support and services ie sizing sticker, PolyBag. Hand Tag. UPC Sticker (ununiversal Price code) Tagpin, Solution Pin and Solution type (Packing ancillary) Testing Laboratory and Training institute, Conference & Exhibition Hall are available in the Project will provide International Standard of quality and skilled labour due to lab & training institute respectively to the Textile Industry.
Conference Hall & Exhibition Hall are available for Mini Exhibition & Seminar Workshop Etc. Project will create a new concept for Garment Industry. Hopefully private sector will follow this concept & new trend will be established in Faisalabad. In this Project, the more emphasis is given on international compliance, which will facth the confidence of buyer, and definitely the exports will be increased.
