Former Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister and President Peoples Muslim League (PML) Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry has urged Islamic countries to help resolve the Kashmir issue. He spoke at an iftar dinner hosted by PML leaders of Saudi Arabia in Jeddah.
Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry remarked that Pakistan has been playing an important role in solving Muslim Ummah's problems especially by its stance on the Arab-Israel conflict. Pakistan has not recognised Israel even though several Islamic countries have. He observed that the Muslims in occupied Kashmir were facing hardships and Indian brutalities, which even made mosques and imam bargahs unsafe.
Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry said that Muslims should take practical steps in spite of resolutions being passed by the OIC to resolve this issue and urged the Arab League and OIC to use their forces for a solution.
In his opinion, the Kashmiris overseas should also play their due roles in this regard. Sultan Mehmood termed the presidential election as a drama and predicted that the Kashmiri government along with Musharraf's government would be dissolved in the near future. President PML said that the movement for the restoration of democracy, law, constitution and supremacy was on a rise and hoped that these would soon be reconstituted in Pakistan.
