Generally rising trend was evident on the commodities markets during the week ended on October 6, 2007, while some items noted traded without much change. The changes seen were on higher side in masoor Canada, dal masoor Canada, urad from Burma. Dyes were all on the rise, jute was -mixed.
Among essentials sugar was down. Masoor Canada sharply higher by Rs 200 to Rs 4200, masoor dal from Canada rose by same amount and was quoted at Rs 5000. Urad from Burma, inferior type rose by Rs150 to Rs 1700, better rose by Rs 25, wheat old and new was registered respectively at Rs 1450/1500 and Rs 1465 and Rs 1515.
Dyes per pound red 12 B closed higher by Rs 25 to Rs 120, shy blue 5 B gained Rs 5 to Rs 100, surplus black 522 rose by Rs 3 to Ts 35, cynamine 5R closed higher by Rs 42 to Rs 160. ATT acid black rose by Rs 20 to Rs 95, Nigrosine MS quoted at Rs 75, acid 216 rose by Rs 5 to Rs 80, Orange II 201 rose by Rs 20 to Rs 95 and acid scarlet 3R up Rs 100 to Rs 1000.
On Monday jute good on the Jodia Bazar depicted mixed pattern. Goods twine per Kg 20x3 brown ended down by Re 1 to Rs 44, 16x3 CRT/Indus closed down by Re 1 to Rs 44 and 40x2 brown closed higher by Rs 5 to Rs 41.50. Hessian doth per 91.44 meter 45x10 Amin rose by Rs 100 to Rs 2050, 45x11 rose by same amount to Rs 2200, 50x9 rose by Rs 75 to Rs 1950, 45x9 rose by Rs 75 to Rs 1950, and 45x8 Thul rose by Rs 50 to Rs 1600.
Elsewhere cotton cakes with bags registered at Rs 450 and Rs 500, Punjab inferior type rose by Rs 5 to Rs 425 and better type rose by Rs 15 to Rs 430, sugar however was down by Rs 20 to Rs 2700. On Tuesday prices were marked on the commodity wholesales markets as unchanged.
On Wednesday plastic mouldings depicting mixed trend had changes in HDPE film (per Lb) Saudia 952 down by 25 paisa to Rs 56.25, Mobile quoted at Rs 26.25, and TR 144 rose by 75 paisa to Rs 55.75. LLDPE 7087 closed down by 25 paisa to Rs 55.75, polypropylene film Thai dipped by 50 paisa to Rs 52.50, Kuwait ended lower by 50 paisa to Rs 52.50, India closed down by 50 paisa to Rs 52.50. Polypropylene injection grade Saudia ended lower by 25 paisa to Rs 51.25 and India was quoted at Rs 51.50. Copoly block quoted at Rs 54, and Randon however rose by 50 paisa to Rs 56.50.
ON WHOLESALE MARKETS RICE FELL SHARPLY: Irri 9 Sindh shed Rs 100 to Rs 2600/2700, Irri 6 Sindh quoted lower at Rs 1740, Basmati D 09 Shahdadkot Bagrjee low kind shed Rs 100 to Rs 4100, and better type shed Rs 200 to Rs 4200, Basmati No 386 old lost Rs 200 to Rs 4100 while better type was quoted at Rs 4200, basmati new 386 shed Rs 100 to Rs 3100. Sela Basmati lost Rs 200 to Rs 4800, other type was quoted at Rs 5000, super Karnal old type rose by Rs 400 to Rs 5400 and good type gained Rs 300 to RS 5500.
On Thursday wholesale commodities market remain closed for observing Shahadat-e-Hazrat Ali. On Friday there was no business being a weekly close day during the minth of Ramazan. On Saturday modest activity seen amid rise in the rates of masoor, masoor dal, barley and Irri 6 Sindh turnin higher.
