Passengers stranded at Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan airports due to non-availability of flights for Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, while international passengers could not reach their destination too.
Some passengers have cancelled their reservations on domestic flights to save from any possible inconvenience that may be caused due to the arrival of Pakistan Peoples Party's Chairperson Benazir Bhutto at the Quaid-e-Azam International Airport on Thursday.
The national flag carrier and private airlines have also cancelled their domestic flights on Thursday. According to the officials, Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has cancelled around six domestic flights, including Karachi-Lahore flight (PK-303), Lahore-Karachi flight (PK-304) which were scheduled to arrive at 12:30 pm, while Karachi-Islamabad (PK-308) was scheduled to arrive at 4:00 pm were cancelled. Meanwhile Karachi-Dera Ghazi Khan-Karachi flight (PK584-PK585), Karachi-Turbat-Gwader flight (PK509-PK510) and Karachi-Multan-Lahore flight (PK574- PK-575) were also cancelled, but PIA officials did not disclose the timings of these flights.
Airblue has cancelled its two domestic flights, including Karachi-Islamabad-Karachi flight (ED208-ED209), which was scheduled to fly at 1:00 pm and Karachi-Lahore-Karachi flight (ED404-ED405) scheduled to arrive at 4:00 pm.
Shaheen Air has also cancelled two domestic flights, including Karachi-Multan-Karachi flight (NL123-NL124) that was scheduled to depart from Karachi at 7:30 am, while its Karachi-Islamabad-Karachi flight (NL161- NL162) was rescheduled for 8:00 am on Thursday.
Keeping in mind the slump in passenger reservation that has dropped to 25 percent from almost 100 percent, as it is the Eid season, airlines have decided to cancel their flights altogether because of the losses.
