The rupee was lower bt 77 paisa in terms of euro and two paisa versus dollar in open market, while firmness prevailed in the interbank market dealings on Saturday. The rupee did not show any change in iner-bank against dollar for buying and selling at Rs 60.62 and Rs 60.64, dealers said.
The rupee managed to stay at the overnight levels due to balanced demand and supply position of dollar, they said. In the world market, at the weekend, dollar fell to a record low against a basket of currencies after a draft statement from the Group of Seven nations failed to address the greenback's weakness, suggesting they would not step in to prop it up.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee shed two paisa against dollar for buying and selling at Rs 60.65 and Rs 60.70, they said. It also dropped sharply in relation to euro, dipping 77 paisa for buying and selling at Rs 86.12 and Rs 86.22 in process of trading, dealers said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged on Lahore currency market on Saturday. There was hardly any change in demand and supply of dollars. The dollar was purchased and sold at Friday's closing rates of Rs 60.60 and Rs 60.70 on buying and selling sides.
The rupee failed to maintain its position and lost against pound sterling. The pound's buying rate improved from overnight closing of Rs 123.00 to Rs 123.20 and selling rate from Rs 123.40 to Rs 123.50.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Saturday.
The dollar opened at Rs 60.60 (buying) and Rs 60.70 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not witness any change in the evening session and closed at Rs 60.60 (buying) and Rs 60.70 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 123 (buying) and Rs 123.20 (selling) against same last rate. It did not witness any change in the last trading session and closed at Rs 123 (buying) and Rs 123.20 (selling).
