The National Highway Authority (NHA) has completed M-1, Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway Project with the cost of Rs 15 billion and would be opened very soon for all kind of traffic and the project will be formally inaugurated by President General Pervez Musharraf.
This was stated by General Manager M-1, Chaudhry Mujeeb Qadir while talking to APP here on Tuesday. The construction work on this 154km long road started in 2002 and first phase of Islamabad-Burhan was opened for all kind of traffic in 2005.
He said that this 154km long road contained 27 small bridges, three vast bridges on River Kabul, Indus and Harro and three road crosses over rail bridges at Fathejhang, Burhan and Rashaki were constructed for smooth travelling.
"On motorway, U-turn is available after every ten kilometres and it contained 18 flyovers, 100 underpasses, 571 culverts, while 10 service areas will be provided on both sides of Motorway for rest and dine of commuters", he added.
Mujeeb Qadir continued that eight interchanges are also constructed at Fathejang, Bahatar, Burhan, Ghourghushti (Chach area), Rashaki, Swabi, Charsadda and Peshawar for the convenience of the passengers. "International standard was followed in the construction of this important project", Chaudhry Mujeeb Qadir added.
