The NWFP Caretaker Chief Minister Shams-ul-Mulk on Thursday constituted a committee comprising City District Nazim, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Peshawar, Director Food and representatives of trading community to look into the problems of the business community and submit recommendations for their resolution.
Talking to a delegation of traders that called on him at the Chief Minister's Secretariat, he said that Peshawar is a big city, which needs to be developed as a model city with regard to law and order, basic civic facilities and trade activities.
Provincial Minister, Shahzada Gastasip, IGP Sharif Wirk, District Nazim Haji Ghulam Ali, CCP, DCO Peshawar, traders Haji Halim Jan and other leaders of traders were present on the occasion. On this occasion, the chief minister also directed initiating all possible efforts to put keep check on land mafia that were blackmailing the traders. He also endorsed the suggestion of Shahzada Gastasip to harmonise the Putwari system with the requirements of the present era.
Shams-ul-Mulk said that government is not the name of angels that would solve all problems instantly rather mutual cooperation and trust is the only means to solve the problems facing the people. He regretted that we the Muslims lay great emphases on adoption of Sunnah in our religious practices but do not care for ethics, which are also part of Islamic teachings.
The traders appreciated the role of police and expressed the hope that the police would continue their support in removing their complaints. However, they expressed their reservations about the raids conducted by the food department and problems of law and order and appealed the government to pay special attention to redress them.
