A social security hospital meant to benefit industrial workers has been completed at a cost of Rs 170 million, said Punjab Minister for Labour and Manpower Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon on Wednesday.
Talking to newsmen, he said keeping in view the mega projects executed in South Punjab by incumbent Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the hospital had been renamed as Pervaiz Elahi Health Management hospital.
The minister appreciated that on the initiatives of incumbent chief minister, a vast network of health and education facilities was now in place for the families of industrial workers who were neglected in the past. Qasim Noon said the new social security hospitals had been established while the existing ones had been upgraded to provide best possible healthcare to working class in the province.
He highlighted that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had taken revolutionary measures to raise education and literacy level in Punjab. These include free education, course books and stipends to girl students. He said that under Workers Welfare Boards English medium schools had been established to impart quality education to the wards of industrial workers.
