Call to resolve issues being faced by Muslim countries

Muslims heritage is a part of the world culture, therefore, there is a need to study and discuss contemporary issues vis-à-vis international politics and all disputes being confronted by the world especially Muslim countries should be resolved.
This was stated by Professor Moncef Ben Abdejelil of Institute of Study of Muslims Culture of Aga Khan University, London, while addressing a seminar on "Muslim Cultures and Civilisations" organised by Department of History and Pakistan Study Centre, the Punjab University here on Friday.
Professor Abdejelil explained the significance of study of culture and civilisations in different and diverse local and regional contexts. He suggested resolution of confrontational politics and all disputes facing by the world especially the Muslim countries.
He discussed various aspects of medieval Muslim civilisations and their policies of moderation, tolerance and establishing cultural and religious harmony in their civil societies.
He reminded and revisited various core values and glories of medieval Islam. He said that there was a need to create human and human civilisations in order to have harmonious relationship in a new global world order.
'We need to create incentive oriented multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-religious civilisations in the world. He said his institute was ready to provide full scholarship to deserving brilliant Pakistani students. Chairman, Department of History Professor Dr S Qalb-e-Abid conducted the proceedings.
Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor Punjab University Professor Dr Muhammad Arif Butt in a meeting with Dr Drayna, an eminent American human geneticist and foreign faculty member of National Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology, said the Punjab University had focused on research and signed many MoUs with national and international research institutes to promote research.
Arif Butt said this was the age of bio-technology and there was a dire need for research on human gene and for this purpose faculty of life sciences was working very efficiently on research. Dr Drayna said that he believed on promoting research and CEMB was playing important role in promoting bio-technology.
