The Lahore High Court has issued notices to Chief Secretary, ordering him to explain as to why admission quota from King Edward Medical College was abolished for Jhang residents.
The case came up following a petition filed by Baber Saeed claiming in 2006 that Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi had allocated 48 seats for Layyah, Bhakkar, DI Khan and Rajanpur in the KEMC but Jhang was also treated discriminately.
Counsel MD Tahir said before independence Jhang had been a district of which Faisalabad had been a tehsil. But now Faisalabad was a developed district and Jhang was standing still because of cold shoulder of the governments.
