President General Pervaz Musharraf has summed National Assembly to meet here on Wednesday (today) amidst calls from the international community to 'rescind the decision of emergency and country-wide protests by lawyers. President has called the NA session under clause 1 of Article 54 of the Constitution.
Six items are listed in the order of the day for the first day of a possible ten-day session, which might conclude on November 14. Possibly, the Assembly might be dissolved on 14 Nov, after completion of its five years term.
According to the day's agenda, Law Minister Zahid Hamid Khan will table 13 Ordinances for enactment pertaining to the transplantation of human organs and tissues; patents, anti-money laundering, federal public service commission, national database and registration authority, IDBP, PEC (Engineering Council) IPO (intellectual property); DHA, Islamabad; competition; national disaster management, trade development, and Islamabad capital territory private educational institutions.
Industries minister Jahangir Khan Tareen will also introduce a Bill to amend the Boilers and Pressure Vessels Ordinance, 2002. Defence Minister Rao Sikandar Iqbal will introduce Islamabad DHA Ordinance and State Finance Minister Omar Ayub Khan will move a motion for passage of the NDFC (national finance development finance corp), Act 2005, as approved by the Standing Committee, and also ask for repeal of the 1973 Act, of the same organisation.
Standing Committees of women development, parliamentary affairs divisions, as well as House Library will also meet on Wednesday morning. PML-Q legislators, who are in the city, are expected to ensure smooth passage of House business, since stormy elements after MMA, PML-N, TI, , Pakhtun Khwa Party members resigned on October 2.
