Punjab Education Minister Mian Imran Masood has said that without educating women folk, the country can never join the rank of developed nations. He told the inaugural ceremony of a new building for the Arfa Girls College here in Lal Pul on Wednesday that apart from providing equal chances of other opportunities, girls should be given modern education.
"The government is paying full attention to the promotion of education and that was why free education and books to the students being provided throughout province," he said. "Private is playing pivotal role for the promotion of education. Private educational institutions have contributed half share in enhancing the literacy rate from 42 to 62 percent. In Millennium Development Goals 2015, government has set a target to achieve 100 percent literacy rate and trying its level best in achieving the set target," he said.
APPSWA President Syed Zulqarnain Shah lauded efforts to promote education and said the government did a lot for the education sector. The minister then opened the new college building by cutting the ribbon and prayed for the progress of the college. College Chief Executive Syed Ansar Azhar, Riaz Bangash, Professor Shafi, Muzammal Iqbal Siddiqui, Sadiq Siddiqui and Sheikh Javed Aziz were also present.
