In an effort to improve the performance evaluation process, Habib Bank Limited (HBL), one of the oldest yet one of the most progressive banks of the nation, has launched the Performance Management System (PMS) 2007 for its employees. Through the Performance Management System, HBL will involve its employees in improving organisational effectiveness and in the accomplishment of the bank's mission and strategic goals.
The launch took place at the HBL Plaza where Zafar Osmani (SEVP/MMC & GE, HR&OD, HBL), Dr Razi Azmat (EVP and Head of Personnel Division, HR&OD, HBL), Rashid Awan (EVP, Retail Banking Group, HBL), Aasim Akhtar (EVP, Retail Banking Group, HBL) and Shujaat Ali Baig (Media Advisor and Head of Public Relations, HBL) were also present at the occasion.
The launch meeting was attended by selective senior and middle managers of the bank; other HR representatives and consultants from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Bank World.
Zafar Osmani in his remarks stated that the new Performance Management System came into existence in order to enhance objectivity and transparency in the evaluation system of employees and to make employee appraisal forms user friendly.
This system will help in measuring the performance, based on balanced measure approach and to standardise format across the organisation. He added that HBL continuously strives to improve the process of measuring the performance of its employees. Howard Schuman of Bank World, who was present at the launch praised HBL efforts in the development of an effective Performance Measurement System.
The launch meeting was also used as a platform to give training to the trainers. A select group of middle and senior managers were invited to learn about the new system so that they can in return train other staff members.
At the occasion, Naela Sajjad (SVP, HR&OD, HBL) trained the participants and coached them on using the new forms. It was also announced that similar meetings will be held throughout the HBL network in the coming days and weeks.-PR
