Development in science and technology has completely changed the world and only those nations can survive honourably who make huge investment in this field, said Dr Anwar Naseem, Advisor on Science and Technology to Comstech here on Saturday.
Dr Anwar Naseem stressed the need of redesigning the curriculum in accordance with the present day needs to produce quality scientists." "Unfortunately, we paid least attention towards scientific development for improving science and technology in the past for which Pakistan is lagging far behind as compared to other countries," Naseem said this while addressing the inaugural session of the two-day National Science Conference of the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA).
He said that instead of criticising others everyone in Pakistan should focus on what he did and what he is doing. "Main focus should be on science and technology where every individual has his role," he demanded. Dr Naseem was of the view that a troika of government, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and non-governmental Individuals (NGIs) should be formed to get better results.
Government is playing its role, NGOs are also working while the NGIs are playing their role effectively but are not in the limelight, he said adding that a platform and a mechanism should be provided to bring all NGIs in the limelight so that people should follow them. He said that without disseminating proper knowledge the desired results would not be achieved.
"On this universal day of Science and Technology, we must reaffirm our pledge to pay full attention towards this field and produce skilled manpower.
On this occasion PMA President Dr Arshad Rana expressed his dismay over present uncertain situation saying that at present everyone is confused and not certain about tomorrow. On first day, 11 technical session held in which medical experts deliberated on latest developments and equipment's to be used in medical field.
PMA Rawalpindi president Dr Arshad Rana presented the welcome address while Dr Khalid Randhawa, Secretary PMA, Dr Mazhar Malik also addressed the first session.
