The traders and industrialists' bodies have hailed the government's efforts to introduce branding culture in Pakistan, hoping it will not only encourage marking of products in domestic market but will also help Pakistani exporters to sell their products at much higher rates in the international market and earn more foreign exchange.
Prime Minister, Shaukat Aziz, had awarded 100 entrepreneurs last week for excelling in their respective fields. The awarded entrepreneurs were accorded warn welcome at the ceremony held here. They were from multinationals as well as local business and industrial concerns, which made big progress over the years and introduced their specified brands in local and international market.
Commenting on awarding the entrepreneurs, Businessmen Panel chairman Tariq Sayeed said FPCCI was instrumental in giving the government idea of awarding traders and industrialists for introducing branding culture in Pakistan and make their fellow businessmen feel that it was brand identification which pays in the long run. He said awards for entrepreneurs were acknowledgement of their achievements.
Businessmen Panel Co-chairman and PFCCI former president, Iftikhar Ali Malik said the government did the right job by awarding entrepreneurs for branding their products. He added Pakistani products were by no means less than any other in quality but lack of branding hurt Pakistani entrepreneurs.
Malik said branding would discourage piracy in Pakistan and ultimately pay good dividend to the traders and industrialists. FPCCI would like the government to continue awarding branding to encourage the new business concerns to come in the picture and get awards, he added.
FPCCI vice president Faiz Rasool said the awards for branding would bring a qualitative change in Pakistan and encourage entrepreneurs to go for branding of their products. He added that the government should introduce a different pattern for the new businessmen and industrialist to qualify for the awards.
