Sindh government has accelerated recruitment process in the provincial departments following Sindh High Court permission to continue the process to recruit around 20,000 employees before end of its tenure.
It may be pointed out that SHC had stopped all kinds of recruitment in the province some time back after a petition filed by former City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, but last week SHC has permitted the provincial government to recruit employees in the various provincial departments.
Highly placed sources in Service and General Administration Department told Business Recorder here on Monday that about 52,000 posts are lying vacant in the different departments which needs to be filled on emergency basis. The staff shortage is also affecting the working of the departments, they said.
The departments where the recruitment will start are Power and Irrigation, education, school teachers, health majority on paramedical staff, Excise and Taxation of Excise Inspectors, Information Technology office staff, Planning and Development, Police and others.
Recruitment in Education and health departments are almost completed as test and interviews were also conducted in this regard, they said and added that the process was stopped after the directives of SHC.
Similarly, Excise and Taxation department has taken tests for Excise Inspector as well as for other posts while the recruitment in Information Technology department would be made on 205 posts including IT experts. About 5,000 constables, head constables and sub-inspectors would be inducted in Sindh police department. Planning and Development department has sent a summary to Chief Minister House for recruitment of 300 employees.
The tenure of this government is ending on November 20 as mentioned by President Pervez Musharraf, therefore, government wanted to recruit the employees as quickly as possible to address shortage of staff in different departments, sources said.
"Most of the recruitment at present is being made on posts ranging from BPS-1 to 4 besides in high level posts up to BPS-16." The sources were of the opinion that it was hopeful that recruitment of 20,000 employees in provincial departments under different categories would be completed before dissolution of the present government. The matter of recruitment on rest of the vacant posts, around 32,000 would likely to be taken up after formation of new government, they concluded.
