The Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda), winner of 48th, 49th and 50th National Football Championship from 2001 to 2004, announced their team for the Balochistan and Sindh Leg of 4th Pakistan Premier Football League.
Wapda Sports Board Secretary Saghir Ahmed said SAF Games Gold Medallist 1989 Khalid Butt had been assigned the duty of coach for Lahore-based team, which will take on Chaman and Karachi based teams during their tour from 18 November to 12 December 2007.
Stopper Tanveer Ahmed, who led Pakistan in First Islamic Solidarity Games Football Tournament 2005 at Saudi Arabian and played brilliantly in 0-0 draw with Iraq at Damascus, is among the players in Arif Mehmood-led team.
Other players in squad are Khuda Bakhsh (vice captain), Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Luqman Rashid, Yasir Iqbal, Akram Masih, Muhammad Imran, Altaf Hussain, Naveed Akram, Yameen Bhatti, Zeeshan Aslam, Muhammad Shahid, Muhammad Akram, Syed Aun Raza, Jamshed Anwar, Dilshad Ali, Bashir Ahmed, Zakir Hussain, Syed Raza, Altaf Hussain Muambar, Adeel, Qamar uz Zaman, Ashfaq Ahmed, Burhan Ali, Muhammad Amir, Noor Ahmed, Abdul Aziz, Zahid Hameed, Mehmood Ali, Munir Ahmed and Muhammad Imran.
Wapda, the five-time winner in 1983, 1991, 2001, 2003, 2004, took part in the inaugural AFC President's Cup 2005. They were also runners-up in National Championships in 1984, 1993, 1994, 2005, 2006 and PFF President Cup in 1984, 2002. The gold medallist of national games in Lahore 1992 also participated in the 11th Asian Club Championship 1991.
