The Punjab government has released all the political prisoners from jails and at present there is not a single political prisoner confined in the province. The Punjab Caretaker Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Mahmood A. Sheikh said this here on Friday.
Reiterating the commitment of the caretaker set up to hold elections in the most transparent manner, he said that provincial government would remain fully neutral in the electoral process.
While explaining the captivity of the agitating lawyers, he maintained that the provincial government has released all the arrested lawyers except 22 whose cases are under active consideration by the government. The government fully believes in the rule of law and all the cases are being dealt with on merit, he concluded.
