The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has adopted a well-organised monitoring system to appropriately utilise development funds earmarked for ongoing projects. This was stated by Professor Dr Sohail Naqvi, Executive Director, HEC, while addressing the session of 3rd Vice Chancellors meeting, here on Wednesday.
He said that universities should use the HEC uplift funds without any delay in order to meet the global standards in skill development. He said that the universities should work in consortium to have greater interaction among the faculty and students. It will help overcome countless problems in reshaping the education system.
Training of faculty and administration in running the affairs of universities is extremely important, therefore, the old universities must welcome the new universities in their fold and help them in their development, he added. Mary Linda Armacost, International Consultant on higher education, gave a presentation on 'Leading Transformational Change for Senior Level Administration'.
She said that the Vice Chancellors should adopt vision oriented strategy after the implementation of tenure track system, semester system and should not compromise on quality assurance.
Professor John Tarrant, Secretary General Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), highlighted the ACU and informed the Vice Chancellors that there are 500 members, which are growing in number. He invited the Pakistani universities to become its member, emphasised on globalisation of education, mobility of students and faculty.
