Regular HIV screenings can be an effective in curbing the spread of the virus and increasing awareness on AIDS / HIV, amongst adolescents and young adults. A large number of HIV infected people in the world are teenagers and young adolescents.
Targeting this age group of people can provide dramatic results in checking the spread of the AIDS epidemic throughout the world, BBC radio reported.
This can be done by taking rigorous public health initiatives like routine HIV screenings in schools and community centres. With regular tests, teenagers can get encouraged to be screened regularly as they grow up. And with such measures, the spread of HIV/AIDS can be curbed to a great extent.
To assess the efficacy of regular HIV testing in teenagers, researchers at Rhode Island conducted a study on more than 1200 sexually active people between the age group of 15 to 21.
