Despite ban on transfers and postings of government servants an exercise to carry out a few more transfers in the rural Sindh is under way, sources said on Tuesday. They said that requests from PML (Q) and (F) have been received for 'adjustment' of officers in lower Sindh districts.
Reasons for these requests are based on fear that police and DDO (Revenue) have leanings towards PPP and are likely to facilitate their candidates. Sources said that administrative actions that involve changes in the mid-level bureaucracy need directives from Chief Secretary.
On grounds of 'indispensability' of changes in certain districts to maintain administrative peace and law and order situation in control, occasional orders for postings/transfers are likely to be issued, they said.
They said that Dadu, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Badin and Mithi are the districts where 'adjustment' of officers had already been made. However, the remaining 'non-co-operative' officers are likely to be replaced with more amiable officers.
They said that all appointments made by the outgoing chief minister and his cabinet colleagues were being looked into. However, the then chief secretary had asked for withdrawing all appointment orders that were issued without any legal authority. But the new incumbent has a different approach and he would like to go by the requirement of time. "He is likely to go by wait and see policy."
Sources said that as long as elections are not over, any action on these appointments would remain suspended. Political parties in the opposition have once again reminded of their stern agitation against any uncalled for posting or transfer till the elections are over.
