Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Ejaz Nisar has said the setting-up of journalist colonies in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan and other cities of the province is an important step towards the welfare of journalists enjoying better residential facilities in these colonies.
He directed authorities concerned to accelerate the process of provision of basic amenities in Journalist Colony Lahore and ensure proper security arrangements, boundary-wall and quality infrastructure.
He was talking to President Lahore Press Club Mohsin Goraya at Chief Minister's Secretariat, here on Thursday. Secretary Information Ashfaq Gondal was also present on the occasion. The chief minister said that planning with regard to residential facilities in journalist colonies be made with the focus on future requirements and special attention be paid to development activities. He directed that park, lake, green belts, mosque, roads, electricity and all other facilities be provided in these colonies so that journalists could live in better atmosphere.
He said that government was providing all possible relief to media-men and also facilitating them in the payment of plots. Secretary Information Punjab Ashfaq Gondal briefed the chief minister about the development activities in the journalist colonies in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan. President Lahore Press Club Mohsin Goraya said that setting up of journalists colonies was a historic step towards provision of better residential facilities to journalists.
