Teradata Pakistan on Thursday called nominations for the eighth Teradata National I.T. Excellence Awards. The period of submission of nominations will be from December 6, 2007 to January 5, 2008.
Briefing the press and media at a local hotel, Marketing Manager of Teradata, Sameerah Siddiqui, said that two new categories had been added to these awards, while the existing categories had also been updated to reflect changes in the IT industry.
On the occasion, regional vice president Teradata, Christopher Armitage, Managing Director, Teradata, Khuram Rahat and representative of Partner Ford Rhodes Sidat Hyder, Sharjeel Ahmad were present.
Christopher Armitage termed Pakistan as an important place for Teradata. He said that Pakistan was an important market for it and its global consultant centre was also in Islamabad. Development of IT in Pakistan has been an opportunity for Teradata, he added.
Khuram Rahat appreciated the media's role in promoting IT in the country besides helping Teradata succeed in exploring the upcoming talent in the country. He added that media had created motivation amongst the youth which was significant. He pointed out that youth were now confident to work in the country with abundant opportunities in IT field. Rahat hoped that Teradata IT awards would make the youth more confident to meet the challenges.
According to information provided to the press and media, the two new categories are excellence in IT business intelligence and excellence in project management. For participating in these awards, the nominees should have completed their achievements during the period of January 2006 to December 2006.
The lifetime award is given to the individual who has made outstanding contributions to the state of IT in Pakistan. In the IT awards, nominations are open to all companies, while organisations can also nominate employees who have made contribution in this field.
