The Visa International today released a Government ePayments Adoption Ranking (GEAR) 1 that measures the extent to which governments in 43 markets provide key payment services on electronic platforms. Pakistan was ranked 32nd among 43 markets surveyed in this regard.
These 43 markets were chosen to represent all regions, many cultures and political systems, and broad levels of economic development as they account for approximately 83 percent of the total human population and 91 percent of global economic output. The adoption rankings were based on 31 indicators grouped into six payment categories, including consumer-to-government; government-to-consumer; business-to-government; government-to-business; infrastructure; and educational, economic and political context.
Pakistan has been placed in the top 25 in three of the six ranking categories that are consumer-to-government, government-to-consumer, and government-to-business. Pakistan also received good indicator scores in the of Income tax payments, Automotive costs comprising Toll roads, bridges, zones, fines, tickets, Income tax refunds and Sales/VAT tax payments.-PR
