Kisan Board Pakistan President Sardar Zafar Hussein Khan has urged the government to announce the wheat support price at Rs 800 per maund and provide flour to the urban population on subsidised rates. In a statement issued here on Monday, Khan regretted that the government had adopted no clear policy on the wheat despite the deepening crises.
He claimed that there was no chance of achieving the wheat production target of 24 million tonnes since farmers were unable to sow wheat over 300,000 acres of land. He said the farmers were still sowing wheat for the next crop while the flour prices of 100 kilogrammes had reached Rs 1,800.
