Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has asked the interior ministry to provide proper security to party chairperson Benazir Bhutto and her security advisor, Rahman Malik, following the intelligence report that suicide bombers might attack them.
Interior ministry spokesman, Brigadier Javed Iqbal Cheema, has communicated to PPP leadership that intelligence reports suggested Benazir and her security chief could be attacked by suicide bombers.
In a letter sent to the Interior Secretary, Rahman Malik has asked the government to provide proper security as well as properly functioning jamming devices during Benazir Bhutto's public meetings. Malik said that the jammers provided during Benazir visit t to Mardan last Tuesday did not function and the fact was brought to Cheema's notice.
