Caretaker Provincial Minister for Industries Khawaja Muhammad Jalal-uddin Roomi has been elected as President of Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) for the term 2007-08 while Adnan Ahmed Khan has been elected as Senior Vice President.
The election committee comprising Khawaja Muhammad Yousaf and Malik Israr Ahmed Awan on Friday announced that both have been elected unopposed as no other member turned up to contest the election. Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi is in Saudi Arabia for performing Hajj. While SVP Adnan Ahmed Khan in his address said that he would play his role for the development of the area besides redressing the grievances of the traders as well as the industrialists.
He said that proper attention would be given towards the economic growth of the southern Punjab and announced a number of projects like establishment of Research and Development Cell, Help Desk for SMEs, and Think tank. Mian Maqbool Ahmed said that Khawaja Jalal uddin Roomi would perform his duties very cautiously because he is a well-experienced industrialist, exporter, and manufacturer and he is also a good administrator which he proved as chairman of Nishtar Board of Management.
It may be recalled that Shamim Ahmed Khan, Khawaja Muhammad Hussain, Mian Aziz Ahmed Shaikh, Khawaja Badar Munir, Aurangzeb Mughal and Major (Retd) Abdul Hakim Khan have already been elected unopposed as member of the Executive Committee.
