Raw sugar futures were mixed in early dealings on Friday in activity featuring small speculators as the market seems content to hover near levels representing a four-month high, brokers said. ICE Futures electronic March sugar contract fell 0.02 cent to 10.29 cents per lb at 9:16 am EST (1416 GMT), moving from 10.27 to 10.33 cents.
The rest were flat to up 0.03 cent. "There's not a whole lot going on at this time. It's mostly locals and we're just hanging around here for now," a floor dealer for a financial house said.
Screen business on Friday in the March contract was at 5,929 lots at 9:18 am Sugar's open-outcry volume at 9:00 am was at 2,012 lots. Total open-outcry volume in the sugar market on Thursday was at 4,228 lots and screen trade hit 37,245 lots, according to exchange data.
