The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will start the widening, rehabilitation and construction of seven different roads in federal capital during the next three months, a CDA official said on Monday. The official said that during the current fiscal year, the Authority had allocated about 70 percent share of the development budget to the development of roads.
He said the Authority had already started the work on the project to link Kashmir Highway with Seventh Avenue and the widening of Jinnah Avenue, while work on rehabilitation and addition of third and fourth rigid lane on Kashmir Highway, rehabilitation and addition of two rigid lanes to Islamabad Highway from Rawat to Faizabad, rehabilitation and widening of Lehtrar Road from Tramri Chowk to Pinstac.
Widening and dualisation of Garden Avenue would be started in February next. The extension of Margalla Road up to third Avenue was expected to be started during the current month, he said.
The official said the construction work on Zero Point Interchange would be started within next few days as all the formalities had been completed and the consultant had also completed his work. He said the Authority had completed the road projects worth Rs 1.56 billion during 2007, while the road projects valuing Rs 2.29 billion would be completed during the ongoing month.
The CDA would also start the second phase of the project of the development of tourist and recreational spots, including Rawal Lake Park on 100 acres in January next, while the work on the second phase of Fatima Jinnah Park had already been started, he added.
