Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) Chairman Tahir Ishaque Bharara has expressed grave concern over the looting, arson, damage to properties, disruption of communication, disturbance of law and order situation, spreading of rumours and upsetting trade and business routine.
He appealed to all political and national leaders of the country to rein in their party members and workers from disrupting the public life and business routine. In a fervent appeal to PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif, PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, and other politicians issued here on Tuesday, the PTEA chief said the death of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was indeed a great tragedy and a big shock not only for PPP hierarchy, party members and devoted workers, but also a big loss for the whole country.
The void created by her death cannot be filled easily, he added. It was in this context that the whole nation plunged in deep grief and sorrow for three days in an unprecedented unanimity.
He said it was sad that during this period some irresponsible elements giving vent to their anger started damaging public and private properties in various cities of the country. These elements also damaged the passenger trains, goods trains, transport vehicles, banks, petrol pumps, public and private transport, railway lines, and other precious properties. This rioting and arson resulted in huge loss to Rs 60 billion to the nation.
Bharara said it would take long time efforts and huge money to repair the damages suffered during this period. Furthermore, the irresponsible elements were now engaged in spreading false rumours and creating panic and chaos disturbing the normal life routine, business and trade activity.
He appealed to the national leaders to restrain their workers and party members from anti-social elements spreading rumours and damaging public and private properties in greater national interest.
