Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro has said that participation of 'all political parties' in general election-2008 is an encouraging sign for the ongoing political process and would strengthen democratic institutions in the country.
He stated this while talking to Punjab Governor Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) at the Governor House on Saturday evening, according to a press note issued by PM Secretariat (Camp office) here. Soomro said that political maturity of the political leaders has improved the political atmosphere as well as the general law and order situation in the country.
He expressed the confidence that they would continue to follow the code of conduct to ensure peaceful elections. The Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro said that a commission had been formed to assess the damages, which would perform its obligation impartially and in a transparent manner so that those who have suffered on account of recent disturbances are genuinely compensated.
