Pakistan People's Party Azad Jammu and Kashmir would hold ceremonies in memory of its slain Chairperson Benazir Bhutto from January 9, President of the PPP-AJK Chaudhry Abdul Majeed announced on Saturday. Addressing a news conference here after meeting of Central Executive Committee of People's Party Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Majeed
said Azad Kashmir Chapter of the PPP was also observing 40 days mourning as announced by the central leadership and it had chalked out a schedule of memorial ceremonies across the valley.
"Memorial references will be held on January 9, 10, 11, and 12 in Islamabad, Muzaffarabad, Rawlakot and Sundhoniti respectively," Majeed said. "Similarly, memorial ceremonies will also be held in Kotli, Bhimber and Bagh on January 14, 16 and 21 respectively."
The PPP-AJK President said they have also planned to observe Chehlum of the assassinated party chairperson Benazir Bhutto and the ceremonies have been scheduled to be held in district headquarters of the valley on February 7. Briefing about decisions of the PPP-AJK's meeting, Chaudhry Majeed said the meeting endorsed all the decisions taken by the Central Executive Committee in Naondero House last Sunday.
"We endorse appointment of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as the Party Chairman, Asif Ali Zardari as co-chairman and Makhdoom Amin Fahim and Shah Mahmood Qureshi as advisors," he said, adding, the Azad Jammu Kashmir Chapter of the PPP has full confidence in its central leadership.
The meeting also demanded for probe of Benazir Bhutto's tragic death by the UN Commission and said they have reservations on investigation of the Scotland Yard team that arrived in Pakistan on Friday.
PPP-AJK also thanked the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir and All Parties Hurriyat Conference leadership for showing solidarity after death of Benazir Bhutto and extending condolences to the grieved family. "We also acknowledge Indian Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and Indian Premier Manmohan Singh's remarks of appreciation for Benazir Bhutto," he added.
