On the directive of City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal, action against 262 ghost employees including 135 teachers of Local Bodies education department has been initiated and final letters of termination of service and advertisement in newspapers issued.
According to a City Government spokesman, City Nazim had directed all the departments to take strict punitive action against incompetent and inefficient officials and employees and all such ghost employees be shunted out who are not attending their duties.
He had directed the EDOs to take action against all such officials who are not taking action against their subordinate staff who are not attending their offices and are showing carelessness in the discharge of official responsibilities.
In the light of strict directives of Nazim, all the EDOs have asked the officials and staff of their respective departments not to show any carelessness and inefficiency in the discharge of their duties or else strict action will be taken.
On Nazim;'s directive, the education department of City Government took action against 262 such employees and issued them final notice of termination from service with the instruction to submit reasons with evidence about their absence from duties since long within 15 days or else they will be expelled from service.
As per notice, these 262 employees include 135 teachers who are absent from duty since long and were earlier told to give reasons of their absence within 7 days in which, however, they failed.
They have now been given another 15 days time to contact the office and provide evidence in their defence and in case of failure their service will stand terminated.
