The commodities wholesale markets hit by abnormal conditions in the metropolis got firmer despite closures. The opening day saw a few changes such as sugar inferior type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 3200 while the other type was up sharply by Rs 150 to Rs 2450. The other items changed hands at previous levels.
On Tuesday gram prices rose, grams Punjab gained Rs 125 to Rs 2925 and the other type was quoted at Rs 3050. Gram garda dal Punjab picked up Rs 100 to Rs 3500 and the other type was quoted at Rs 3600. Yellow peas Canada inferior type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2700 while better type was quoted at Rs 3050, the other rose by Rs 25 to Rs 2800. Beetle chana I low type rose by Rs 25 to Rs 55 to Rs 3150, better type rose by Rs 135 to Rs 3300, dal beetle sharply rose by Rs 300 to Rs 3600.
On Wednesday prices sustained rise such as moong Punjab was sharply higher by Rs 175 to Rs 3175. Masoor Australia surged by Rs 400 to Rs 4900, masoor Canada rose by Rs 150 to Rs 4650, and dal masoor was also higher by Rs 300 to Rs 5500. Cottonseed oil cakes with bag from Punjab inferior quality rose by Rs 20 to Rs 500, while better type was up Rs 25 to Rs 550. The seed-cotton cakes low type was sold higher by Rs 25 to Rs 575 while better type was higher by Rs 40 to Rs 600, the cottonseed oilcake new turned higher by Rs 60.
On Jodia Bazar Kirana items were also on the higher side, white pepper quoted at Rs 16,200, Sago rose by Rs 40 to Rs 1600, Star aniseed closed with gain of Rs 200 to Rs 5200.
On Friday markets maintained uppish trend as gram garda had another gain of Rs 75 to Rs 3000 while better type was quoted at Rs 3150, gram garda dal Punjab rose by RS 100 to Rs 3600 while better type was seen at Rs 3700. Yellow peas Canada rose by Rs 100 to Rs 2800 and the better one was quoted at Rs 2950. Beetle chana I was up Rs 75 to Rs 3225 while the better one was seen at Rs 3300. Beetle 50x50 up by Rs 45 to Rs 3100 and better one was quoted at Rs 3250, dal beetle closed higher by Rs 100 to Rs 3700 while the better type was marked at Rs 3800. Rapeseed Mirpurlane closed higher by Rs 100 to RS 1500 and better one was quoted at Rs 1550. Rapeseed cakes were higher by Rs 40 to Rs 575 while better one was seen at Rs 580. Cottonseed cakes new with bag was quoted at Rs 700.
Jodia Bazar goings:raw rubber Ceylon (per lb) RSSV up by Rs 6 to Rs 85, Pale Crape TCP 3 up Rs 4 to Rs 79, Latex Semnan Tex rose by Rs 30 to Rs 510 and Thai rose by same amount to Rs 510.
ON FRIDAY THE FOLLOWING WERE THE RATES ON JODIA BAZAR: black pepper Singapore closed lower by Rs 400 to Rs 9200, black pepper from Ceylon ended lower by Rs 200 to Rs 9200, black pepper from Brazil shed Rs 500 to Rs 9500, mace quoted at Rs 27000, small cardamom quoted at Rs 24000, big cardamom at Rs 17000, saunf rose by Rs 400 to 2800, sago rose by Rs 25 to Rs 1625 and darchini down by Rs 150to Rs 3200. No fluctuations were reported from grain and seeds market.
