Out of the total 499 agro farms situated in capital city, about 120 farms are being used for illegal activities, sources told NNI. A CDA inspection team has presented a report after inspection of the agro-farms, in which it pointed that 120 farms of bigwigs in Chak Shehzad and Sihana have become centre of illegal activities.
The report further said that the owners of these farms are violating the rules and regulations of the CDA, despite being served with show-cause notices.
The farms were allotted by CDA with an objective to grow more fruit, vegetable, milk, chicken and eggs, but the owners are using the farms for other purposes in order to earn lucrative profit by flouting CDA regulation with impunity.
The stringer of the agency visited these farms and met with many owners, who are indulged in illegal activities due to the influence of some high-profile persons.
A man is found occupied the farm no 51 of poultry and vegetable scheme at Chak Shahzad for the past ten years with the manoeuvring of being government servant.
The owner has not yet obtained a lease agreement from the CDA. On the other hand the owners of these farms have requested CDA to include the horticulture category in the lease agreement instead of stopping the illegal activities being carried out on their farms. The CDA high-ups have acceded to the requests.
