A National Assembly candidate of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Shehryar Mazari has lodged complaints of serious electoral malpractice in his constituency NA-210 Kashmore, the source said.
In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, Qazi Muhammad Farooq, he appealed to redress his reservations and apprehensions about the fairness and transparency of the elections in his area, that are scheduled to be held on February18.
Mazari underlined many malpractice's that are being carried out in his constituency. According to him, these practices are unlawful political interference of the district nazim termed as ruthless political victimisation of the PPP workers and supporters and expected serious pre-poll rigging.
He also accused the district nazim of threatening the locals for dire consequences, if they support the PPP. Further, he blamed nazim for canvassing for all the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) candidates in Kashmore Town in a bid to get people's support for the PML-Q.
He also registered protest over the fake FIRs, lodged against hundreds of party workers and supporters and demanded to quash these fraudulent cases and criminal charges. The PPP candidate anticipated heavy rigging in the elections and blamed the district nazim, Kashmore for indulging in political activities and harassing the PPP workers and supporters.
Mazari demanded to sack the SHOs of Kashmore and Guddu Town, allegedly working under the instructions of the district nazims. He also complained against illegal detention of the PPP workers by the police.
While pointing out the pre-poll rigging on large scale in his constituency, he expressed resentment over the selection of the presiding officers and other polling staff as they have received their jobs and promotions from his rival candidate, Saleem Jan Mazari of the PML-Q.
'They have planned rigging in selected polling stations', he said. Expressing his grievances about mass rigging in the rural areas of Kashmore, he blamed his rival candidate, Mazari of the PML-Q, that huge number of his personal mercenaries stormed the polling stations have occupied them forcibly.
