Amir Jamiat Ulema-e-Islama (JUI), Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that next elections should be held as per schedule on February 18. According to JUI sources here, he was talking to party leaders including Maulana Amir Hussain Gillani, Qari Sher Afzal Khan and Maulana Muhammad Amjad Khan before his departure for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.
The sources said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman said, "MMA wants that election be held as per schedule as nation do not want any further delay in this regard." He said holding of elections as per schedule is essential to overcome the problems facing the country adding that matters like formation of national government should be discussed after elections.
He said though MMA has reservations about the next elections, yet it would fully participate and contest against those following foreign agenda. He asked MMA candidates not to pay any attention to rumours and vigorously pursue election campaign.
Condemning suicide bomb blast in Peshawar, he said it is conspiracy to create chaos and called for promotion of national unity to foil evil designs of anti-state elements.
