The performance of Karachi Fish Harbour Authority (KFHA) from management point of view and the bottlenecks being faced were reviewed at a meeting regarding "Competitiveness Support Action Plan for KFHA" held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Secretary, Fazlur Rehman here on Tuesday.
The meeting felt the imperative need for streamlining the KFHA's functioning. In order to improve KFHA's functioning it was decided to reconstitute the Authority's Board of Directors and strengthen its membership with the inclusion/addition of representatives of Federal Government, MINFAL and other stakeholders.
It was decided that KFHA will gear-up its management by streamlining its functioning through a company, in accordance with rules and regulations. As per another decision, the outsourcing of fisheries auction shall be equally shared by Fishermen Co-operative Society and KFHA for the welfare of fishermen and management/ investment of KFHA. In this regard Secretary Fisheries, Dr M Siddiq Memon will submit report/working paper to Chief Secretary by Wednesday. The meeting was attended by MD KFHA Shahid Gulzar, Tahir Dada of CFS, Amir Jehangir, Consultant CFS besides Secretary Fisheries and Deputy Secretary Implementation/ Co-ordination.
