Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Additional Inspector General, Malik Muhammad Iqbal has said that the protection of life and property is the prime responsibility of his force. "The police are fully alert for rooting out terrorism from the country and all out efforts are being made in this connection," he said.
He expressed his views while talking to a delegation of Khidmat Group traders, who met him on Saturday at his office. He said the trader community was the country's backbone and also emphasised the need of a peaceful atmosphere to flourish the business.
He assured that his force would provide better security environment to the business community. He claimed that the people have changed their opinion towards police that help bridge the public and police gap, particularly, after the General Post Office (GPO) bombing. He said his force had employed 23 kin of the dead and injured policemen and distributed Rs 17.2 million to their heirs. Khidmat Group's President Babar Mahmood Sabri praised the security arrangements made by the Lahore police in Muharram and also offered fateha.
