The new building of OPD in Punjab Institute of Cardiology is being constructed rapidly at a cost of Rs 160 million and its basement and three floors have been completed, whereas, emergency ward was under construction and it would be completed within stipulated time.
In a statement, the Medical Superintendent of Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) Dr. Riaz Ahmad Ch. said that 80-bedded ICU has been set up at Jillani Block and four additional operation theatre have also been completed and now the hospital has 9 operation theaters and become 400 bedded hospital.
He said the PIC will be made a model institute for treatment of the cardio vascular diseases for the benefit of people from inland as well as outside of the country.
He said that for the purpose of extending state of art medical facilities to the patients, the institute is being provided all possible assistance from government. He said that the institute has got ISO-9001-2000 certification for its departments; pathology, radiology and quality management, this is the first public sector hospital to get this distinction.
He said that it all is due to the teamwork of all the staff of the institute however, the staff has been directed to work with new zeal and zest for the services of ailing humanity.
